hi, just installed a new cpu and motherboard on my pc and now my keyboard and mouse won't work. I have tried a few different usb slots, amd with amd without legacy support, have also tried in safe mode. I cannot install any of my new mobo's drivers etc because i cannot click or type anything. I previously had the standard windows driver's installed for keyboard amd logitech ones for mouse. Could it be that the lack of driver's for mobo is wrecking things? I wouldn't think it would matter because they work in safe mode when no driver's are loaded

Can you get anything to work on the USB ports? Because if you can't and computer is booting up into Windows fine, then you may have a bad USB controller on the motherboard.

yeh as above i've enabled them in bios. So you guys don't think that it's just the lack of driver's? I can't find anyone with a ps2 mouse or keyboard either i can use to install on

No, USB should work with the standard Windows drivers - that is of course assuming you are running on Windows98SE or newer. Enabling or disabling USB support via BIOS just enables the BIOS to support your USB devices until an OS with proper drivers can take over. This is why your keyboard works when in the BIOS. Now, disabling the actual USB controller is a different matter, and most motherboards/BIOSes do not allow this anyway.

What puzzles me is that you get keyboard support in the BIOS (or so it seems). Then, when Windows loads, you have nothing... This tells me that your controller is working. Perhaps there is a conflicting or damaged device on the USB bus.

Try completely disconnecting all USB headers to internal devices (front panel, expansion port slots, etc.) then plugging in just your keyboard (no mouse) to one of the motherboard's ports. Do you get keyboard control of Windows then? If not, try just the mouse.
