new Cpu

so my computer broke some strange way. i bumped into it and it wont show picture. so the moatherboard and/or cpu is broken. im now planning on getting a new cpu and motherboard. i want to have a cpu that is reasonably priced but good for gaming. I had a P4 3.0 HT. im wondering what people recommend. i dont really want to pay more than $275.

if it isn't displaying on the monitor, then it is more likely that the video card is broken.

no ive checked everything but the cpu and mobo. everything works in a different computer. i havent tride my cpu but i cant find anyone with a compatable mobo. so instead of buying a mobo and then the cpu not work im just going to get all new stuff
