new crad

hey everyone i i am bulding a new workstation that is going to be used for 3d modeling and animation+some gaming
the cpu is going to be an amd x2 4200+ ,and i am looking to buy new card
so what do you think ATI OR Geforce 6800GT?or can you recommend one?
i was thinking of getting on of the new 7800 but my budget is $1700...
 
i have a amd athlon xp 2600 and a ati radeon 9550 256mb, 512 mb ram, and all my 3d modeling and games run smoothly. u people and ur 2k systems :)
 
lol, I have (for the day, tomorrow it will be the 6600 and next month it will be the 800XL) the 9550 at the moment. It runs all games fine, but not with the grapphics the games are capable of doing..

hey man dont look at it this way ..before i decided to build thid one i have modeled a ed figure on a compaq(2.4.128gb.with build in card)....but since i started my intrenship i wasnt able to bring any work home...becouse it takes hours..but trust me after this build that i am not going to get anything for a long time..that why iam trying to make this worth it
