Alright guys, I need a desktop computer, mainly for schoolwork and internet and such, but also a little gaming. Here's the rig I have in mind.

(Power Supply)

Total = 346

I think the case/ power supply is too much. Which case should I get that comes with a power supply that would be cheap? (Looking for around 300 flat)

Obviously it's a budget computer, but I think it is not bad.

My video card will be an Asus Geforce 6600 PCI-E that I have left over from my other computer.

1. Wait atlest 1 day until you bump a thread

2. The rig is pretty basic. I would find the extra cash to upgrade to a SATAII hard drive.

3. I've never heard of Solidburn technology

4. I ususally dont suggest using the PSU that comes with the case, but you dont have a very power demanding rig. So it might be alright.

But if you have the extra cash, just to be safe, get a better PSU that does not come with the case.

i have a very similar rig as shown in my signature, it actually plays games really well although my video card is a little more high end. I've found that the 3000+ overclocks really well. A sata hard drive would be nice but i don't really think it would be necessary.

I think the hard drive will be fine, but which one do you recommend? Should I get a different processor, or will it get the job done?

Thanks, yea I think those components will work fine, I mean it is 350 dollars. What about the case, can you guys recommend me something that comes with a power supply that is cheap. I don't want an absurd case with lights and stuff, just something simple. Thanks for the help.

just look on newegg.com for one with good ratings, it's always a better idea to get a power supply seperate from the case, but if you find one with good ratings you should be fine. Also with that processor over clocked to 2.25 ghz i can play far cry on high settings. CS is maxxed out. I don't really play many other games tho. But it seems to work just fine for me. I wouldn't mind a dual core tho :( I just don't have the money.
