Recently a new drive labeled (Q:) has appeared in my hard drives and i have no idea what it is. It doesn't appear in the disk management tool or any other partitioning software and i can't click it or do anything with it. Does anyone have any idea where it might of come from and how i could get rid of it as it doesn't seem to have any purpose. Thanks

The drive letter is Q? Do you have letters up to P filled up? or did it just come out of teh blue and jump say from D to Q?

Either way, I would start by restarting into safe mode and running a malewarebytes scan.

Most likely you have drive emulation software installed such as alcohol 120 or any other software capable of mounting a cd image. If so, thats normal.

more than likely you're right john b it will be something to do with daemon tools i scanned my computer and it hasn't found any infections so i'm not too worried thanks for the replies guys

It's probably a program that mounts virtual drives such as Daemon tools,Alcohol 120%,Power iso and so on...

Try unmounting all virtual drives and see if that solves the problem.

Cheers!
