new DVD drives -> start-up problem

Hi,

I've recently replaced both the DVD-ROM, and the DVD re-writer drives on my PC with new ones. Since I did this, I'm having problems when starting up the computer.

Basically, when it reached the loading windows screen, my monitor goes into power-save mode, as if its not receiving a signal from the PC. I have to restart anywhere between 3-7 times before it loads up properly.

Could anyone maybe enlighten me on why this is happening, and how I would go about fixing this problem.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Make sure you did not accidentally unplug a power cable somewhere... Is there a reason you bought 2 drives a burner and a reader? they do the same thing...

my burner i upgraded to one with lightscribe capability, and my old reader was playing up, so got a new one of those aswell...

checked the cables, they are all in place..

Have you tried unplugging the drive and see if it boots correctly without them connected? If it boots fine without them, it could be anything from a bad driver to the hardware itself.
