New DX10 Video Cards

We all know that nVidia has released the new heroic 8800GTX/S, both at crazy prices. They are said to run very well, and support DirectX ten completely.

Do any of you know how ATi will respnd to this? Will the midrange DX10 cards be better than the, say, 7600GT?

Thanks

PS, Im asking this because I plan to build a computer, and I might as well wait for quad core and DX10... I hope this thread also helps others!

If you can ignore the popup ad at the link here(usual annoyance) there's a small article on ATI's plans for DX10. http://xtreview.com/addcomment.php?id=350&view=ATI--Direct-X-10

You will find that all of the new DX10 capable cards will be "up in price". There's no doubt on that. But after the reviews come out later on which models actually perform the best you have the option to decide on one that fits into your budget. I'll be taking a serious look at the AMD quad core models when planning the next build as the prices on those eventually drop.
