Hi my first post so hope done right.
im after a new comp and am deciding on whether to try and build my own or get a custom 1 made. how easy is it?
after doing much research i think i will be getting the following:

case: NZXT - LEXA-BLACKLINE BLUE
CPU: Intel quad Q6700
psu - 850W Coolermaster Real Power M850 Modular PSU Quad PCI-E
Mobo: Asus Maximus Formula SE , iX38, S 775, PCI-E (x16), DDR2 1066/1200/667/800, SATA II, SATA RAID, ATX
Memory: 4GB(4x1GB) Corsair QuadX DDR2 XMS2 Dominator, PC2-8500, 240 Pin, Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 5-5-5-15
HDD - 500gb
Sound card: X-FI extreme gamer
dvd - Samsung SH-S203N/RSMN 20xDVD±R, 16xDVD±DL, DVD+RWx8/-RWx6,
OS - Vista 64 bit
Graphics card : 8800 gt
Monitor: benq fp241wz

this look ok?
im unsure of what cooler will fit that mobo any ideas?
also as the mobo supports both ddr2 and ddr3 if i buy ddr2 now can i just take that out and put ddr3 ram in when its cheaper?
and finally i will be selling the 8800gt when the new 9 series comes out and get the 9800gtx (or w/e its gonna be called) i presume this will be fine putting it into this setup

Many thanks in advance:)

It looks like a really good build. I would however suggest waiting until the 45nm's come one (Intel), because you can then decide on weather you want to get one of the new ones, or a discounted Q6700. They should be coming out sometime in January.

hi thanks for quick reply im getting one for xmas how expensive are these new cpu's arent they the very expensive extreme chips? q6700 is bout max i would want to pay obviously pay bit more if similar price but at present upgrade on the q6700 is so much more.

im trying to get it as futureproof as i can as wasnt it to last at least 3 - 4 years. but my knowledge isnt great i have done lots of research recently but am not too confident about building it myself as i have never done this before or i can use a custom pc website but im unsure of whether they will put cheap parts in.

as ddr3 ram is too expensive at the mo and the technology isnt utilised yet im goin for ddr2 however when buying the motherboard i can either buy a ddr2 or a ddr3 version but i thought it was capable of both as i intend to switch over to ddr3 when its more mainstream.

i think the new 9 nvidia cards will use pci 2.0 so i presume my mobo will be able to cope with them

That motherboard is perfect for the new 45nms that are coming out.

I built my first computer and I wasn't very confident about it. It's very easy, and once you do it, you will know a lot more about computers than before.

I'd say DDR3 isn't going to be mainstream for a while, so stick with DDR2 for now.

And yes, that is a good Mobo, it's one of the ones I'm considering for my next build (in January as well, for the new CPU)

hi thanks for responses as ur looking into this mobo do u know if ill be able to upgrade from ddr2 ram to ddr3 ram without having to buy a new mobo as on the site im trying to buy it from there is a ddr2 version of the mobo and a ddr3 but i thought this was capable of both enabling me to upgrade easily in the future
