hello i'm building a new pc and was wondering if these parts will do fine. I'll mainly be doing gaming hopefully at max. Wondering if these are good to do so and if not any recommendations are welcome. The memory I am only starting off with it and changing it later and I also need an idea on a decent gpu

I already have a 750w psu I can get for free from someone

a 580 would be a god card for gaming, and whats the brand of the psu you will be getting? and you might as well buy good memory now, and i would get intel and not amd if i were you

Thanks for the advice so quickly!. The psu I'm not sure about because my uncle is sending it to me, but i know its brand new, not used. modular and has a 80+ rating. And the only reason I'm going with amd is because it's my first build and my uncle said its was best for me to do so

a GTX 570 will game just as well as a 580. 580 is a wonderful card though.

Of you are not crunching for a budget, get a 990FX motherboard. that will leave your upgrade possibilities open with SLI.

HDD, get a Black, not a Blue. It will run faster.

I'm on a bit of a budget as most of the money will be coming from a part time job i'm getting. If I were to say a budget it would be about $800

processor. no need for a hex core for gaming.

Motherboard. 990FX for SLI upgrade possibilities.

case. Better cable management and airflow.

hard drive. Faster and more reliable.

video card. Very good and can max any current game.

memory. 1600 MHz is nearly as cheap as 1333 and faster.

leaves 59 in the budget for DVD drive, or even Bluray if you want it.

1. If your only goal is gaming I would go with a AMD Phenom II x955/975 BE.
2. I would recommend going with two of the 500Gb Caviar Blues in raid 0 for speed.
3. If you plan on eventually Crossfire/SLIing I would go with a 990FX NB if not that current board should perform fine.

Good luck with your build!

i say with the 59 left there he gets a 20-25 dollar dvd drive and then double up to 8gb ram

8 gb ram is not used in gaming.

i have seen plenty of people saying 8gb is almost needed for bf3, it was using up like all of their 4gb, i think one person said it used up 79% of his 8gb, and either way, memory is so cheap, and im sure some games coming out soon will use it, so why not?

There is simply no need for more. You can argue the point all day, but in the end all you have is word of mouth. Show me some solid #s and I will change points of view.

More RAM Will Not Make Single Tasks Faster

Other than the specific applications that hog your RAM, if you think bumping your RAM from 3GB to 8GB is going to increase the speed of a regular application-like a video game—you should think again. The only thing that additional RAM does is allow your computer to do more things at once, not actually make it faster. So if you normally have a few dozen windows open before you launch your video game, you'll see some speed improvement by upgrading, or you could just close a few apps.
there you go.

speculation is better then nothing, and im going to bed lol tomorrow i will find where people ad the numbers of the alpha and beta eating up 5-7 gb of their ram
