Looking to just get a new basic gaming computer that will meet the needs for a while. A question I have is if a 500watt power supply will meet the needs of this and if there is anything that I can swap in or out for something around the same price range.

Heres what I got:

dont know much about intel. Always stayed away from it cause AMD was cheaper for the speed.

Wouldnt the AMD be faster than that intel?

These days, Intel is faster. AMD was better in the single core era, but ever since the Core 2 Duos and Quad Cores, Intel has sped ahead. That 6000+ you picked is a rather poor processor. 90nm, ran hot, and overall a bad choice. I've been told that a 5600+ OC'd to a 6000's speed ran cooler, and more stable overall.

Either way, an Intel build would do much better.

yup, your can get an e2200 and o/c it just as fast or near a 6000+, and ti will perform better, but i've only herd that, i have no personal proof...
