ASUS P6T, Core i7-920, 8600 GT, 6GB DDR3 G.Skill-Trident, Antec 900, Coolermaster Extreme Power 550, Seagate 320Gb 3.5, Pioneer 218, Acer 2ms S243HL, Win 7 64bit.

im thinking of replacing my 8600 GT to a 1GB 5850, will my power supply be ok? and some time in the future i will get another 1GB 5850.

thanks man.

wat brand should i get? 5850 Asus, 5850 HIS or 5850 Powercolor... im leaning to the Asus just because i havnt really heard of the other brands, but it does cost more and does it make thats much more different?

A 5850 would run on most 550w PSUs but I'm wary of the Coolermaster "Extreme" Power. It doesn't seem like a good unit at all. Would you really risk damaging those expensive components because your PSU couldn't deliver its stated wattage? If a PSU fails then theres a chance that it will take other components with it. Heres a nice PSU

hey yeah i think i might buy a new PSU, tho that will set me back a week getting a new Graphics card, which is rather annoying because i cant run my new screen in HD with my Graphics card in any games.
Im shopping From Msy

HIS / Powercolor / Asus
369 / 369 / 399

Is there any other cheap shops in Australia, Adelaide. i have found MSYto be the best and cheapest.

Will you ever consider crossfire? If so that is something to consider. Your machine can do it.

I would go with a 650w or more PSU myself. I like modular ones so I can unplug the wires I won't use. The PSU in my sig is $150 and would be more than enough power. You can buy a good 650 PSU for @ $100.

Don't go with a 4 rail if you won't crossfire. I called Antec about my old 850 quattro and was told the same thing. I like Antec True Power also.

I have seen good reviews on Cooler Master also.

If you dont mind a red fan OCZ HAS A 700W single rail on sale at Microcenter for $105. OCZ is a good name brand. Good luck.

I've had a powercolor in a computer running 24/7 for a few months with no problems. Also, more people on htpc forums had this brand, it seems to be pretty good. I'd go with asus though if the same price.

Yeah MSY is pretty good, I'm also very fond of Umart. As for the PSU MSY have a Corsair tx 650w for $133. I'd also go with Asus for the Graphics card. They have excellent customer service.
