New Graphics card Black screen at startup

I recently purchased an evga geforce gtx 480 graphics card as an upgrade to intel integrated graphics. I installed the graphics card with the disable the integrated graphics and to no avail everytime I still just get a black screen. Any Ideas? im losing hope.

Motherboard standard from hp in a pc package
graphics integrated intel 2000
cpu i3
ram 6gb 2 & 4

graphics card trying to install is nvidia geforce gtx 480

plz help its a fairly expensive card.

Please post what exact model PSU you have.

Please check that you have plugged in the additional power cable into the graphics card.

Then post back and we will go from there.
