Ok so i have done alot of research lately and decided to get my first graphics card. I didnt have much money as i just bought an hp computer. I bought a XFX 8600gt xxx zalman. I got a good deal on it at tigerdirect ($80). I also bought a Ultra X-finity 600watt psu. My pc now has a 5200 2.6 ghz AMD, 320gb hard, 2gb ram, and running vista. I basically need help and support and what to expect. I basically only play race/car sims like gtr2 and LFS. In LFS with my pc now, i get 20fps when recording with fraps and 60fps w/o fraps. That is with just about everything turned down. What should i expect with the card? I also would like to know the correct steps to install this card if someone could help me out. Should i uninstall old drivers? Also, can i just disable the integrated graphics in vista with the Device Manager or should i disable it in the bios? If in the bios, how do i do that? I think thats it, thanks in advance!

Well idk about LFS ,but you should be able to play it on all high. About disabling integrated graphics idk...i would think in vista. And to install it just make sure to discharge your static on the pc case, the put it in the pcie slot. Ohh yeah welcome to computer forum!!!!!

Uninstall your old drivers before you shut down. After you install the new card and boot you can go into the bios and disable the onboard if it doesnt have a disable set it so it looks for the PCIe slot first. When you boot install the new drivers. If you cant find a disable in your bios you can just go into the Device Manager and disable the onboard there.

Thanks for the invite! I figured i should be able to disable it in vista. I have another thing to add. My friends has this same card and he had it all hooked up and installed the drivers and everything and now when his pc boots with the new card his bios page never shows!! Is this possible? If so, what causes this?

It could be that its still set to check the onboard first in the bios and by the time it detects the card just in those few seconds the monitor misses the bios screen.
