mostly music because the inboard card is lame. but i am trying to play spore in an exceptional manner.

Back when I had a Sempron 3100+ and a Gig of RAM (Wow, was it really 3 years ago ), I used a 6600GT, it was excellent.

Id say you would be comfortable with an NVIDIA GeForce 8600GTS or 8800GS.

yeah my machine is pretty damn old i just dont have a job so cant afford a completely new system yet. but your saying tjat the 8600 isnt too much for the cpu right.

It probably is a little, but you'll still get more out of the system. Even a 8500GT should play Spore just fine, though. I have a 1.8GHz Sempron and 8500GT, it plays heaps games smooth (Splinter Cell:Chaos Theory, Stronghold II, Splinter Cellandora Tomorrow to name a few). I definitely would recommend the 8600GT, though, since those can be found pretty cheap and you'll want the most out of your system.
