New guy needs help pls.

I just installed windows xp pro on my computer and now, i don't have internet. I have a cable modem and when i went under LAN, it said that i am connected. Anyone know what the reason may be for this?

Edit: If you're wondering how i got on line...I'm at work, not at home :(
 
I didn't. I thought XP already had built in drivers in them. I have done fresh installs on my friends computer before and never had any problems like that.
 
Yes usually XP installs the drivers but just double check. Also make sure that everything is conencted properly if you have an router or soemting.
 
Everything looks like it's connected. I have no router, i have a cable modem.
I don't know if my copy of XP is corrupted...If it is corrupted, would i have a hard time with everything?
 
go to start, right click my computer and hit manage. go to device maniger and see if there is any unknown devices (they will have a question mark)
 
Just install the drivers....PROBLEM SOLVED!! Guys quit giving him ways to diagnose, we know where the problem is, now just give him a way to fix it. We know it's not working right, otherwise his internet would work.

+1 even if the driver was installed it may have a problem anyway....download the driver at work...take it home and install...problem solved....no more need for questions that already have answers
