new guy needs some help. ram related

so im in the process of building my first comp. have a friends whos gonna help me build it i just need to pick out my specs. now im looking at this mobo, but what ram can i use with this board? do i need ddr2 1200 or can i run different ram?

any help you guys can give me would be great.im still really new to this stuff. my brother has been into gaming for yearsi just never built a computer to game and such. now i want one just not 100% sure on a few things. thanx in advance
 
You picked a good Central Processing Unit to purchase. I know little regarding the reliability of the motherboard you chose, but I do know ASUS makes some quality motherboards. I looked up the specifications on the the motherboard you picked and the CORSAIR XMS PC2 6400 memory you selected should work with it.

The following 240-pin Double Data Rate 2 memory works with the ASUS P5E:

DDR2 1200 / DDR2 1066 / DDR2 800 / DDR2 667 MHz, non-ECC, un-buffered memory.
 
thats what confused me. the newegg.com specs page says ddr1200 ram only. said nothing about other ram. i wasnt sure if this ram would work or if the board supported other rams other then ddr1200.

where did you find those specs?
