I didn't see a sub forum for introductions, so if this is in the wrong place, please move.

Just joined here yesterday and wanted to say hello. I'm builing my first box and might have a few questions :P The search function is great! I already have a good grasp on OCing. Anyways, thanks for reading my post.

Here are the specs on what I'm putting together.

ASUS P5Q Pro LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
GeForce 260 GTX
A-DATA 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 800
Antec NeoPower 650 650W
2x) Sony NEC Optiarc Black 20X DVD burners
Antec Three Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Case
Seagate Barracuda 250GB 7200 SATA (thinking I should've gotten two)
Rosewill RCX-Z775-SL 92mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler (not to sure on this one)

Hopefully everything will be here within the next few days, so I can start playing :D

Ok, didn't make it down to Off Topic. Mods, please move.

I was worried about the Cooler. I checked the reviews on Newegg and they seemed ok. So, you wouldn't advise overclocking at all with the cooler I have coming?

you can overclcock q6600 on stock cooler aslong as your case has good airflow however if you keep pushing the chip further you will need a good after market cooler!

use the one you have but keep an eye on your temp's

I definitely plan on watching the temps!

The case comes with a 140mm top fan, and a 120mm rear fan. Plus, I have 2 more 80mm fans waiting to go in the front. So, I'm hoping I won't have a cooling issus...

well dont go mad with the overclock but you should see 3.2ghz with not too many problems!

just keep the airflow good-intake fans at the front-top and rear fans exhaust

Good luck with the build. I don't have anything really to add, except that you might consider a more powerful PSU???

Welcome to CF...It's a nice place to look through some posts and learn some things.

Have you measured the graphics card and the space in the Antec 300? You might want to look into that...I guess it might be too late now. :( A friend of mine bought an Antec 300 and we had to almost do some cutting just to fit an Evga 8800 GTX in there. He only had about an 8th of an inch of room between the card and the drive bay racks. I would be willing to bet the GTX 260 will not even fit in there.

I guess it just leaves you to do a little modding! :)

The Antec Noe Power is a great PSU! I am very happy with mine. I still have two six pin slots on the PSU not even filled. The cable selection is nice that comes with it. I am getting ready to do a wire mod and wrap them all with green mesh sleeve and attach green connectors to all the cables. I did it kinda already but didn't take the time and do a really good job last time...it needs to be fixed:( I have everything but just not the time yet. I'll post pics and let you know how it goes:)

Don't tell me that! I never really thought about if the video card would fit or not! Let me do some google searching. Thanks for bring that to my attention!

Oh, and post pics of the green mesh sleeve. I migh be interested in doing something like that.

Edit: Ok, after searching I found a site where someone said the 280 fit in a 300 case...barely, and I found out the 260 is the same size as the 280. I think I'm good...hopefully!

Here is a company selling the combo....I stand corrected:)

When you get it put together post a few pics.

Cool, thanks for the reassurance!

Eveything will be here today except the video card. The mobo doesn't have onboard video and my old card is AGP....which the mobo doesn't accept :(

Now I've got to figure out if one of my buddy's will let me borrow a card until mine arrives.

Edit: One of the helpdesk guys where I work let me borrow an 8500 GT for the weekend

There will not be a problem fitting gtx 260 or even 280 to the Antec300 case. I did it few times. And also dual 120mm fans for the front would work much better, I know you have 80mm already but on Antec 300 there are 2 cages for the front fans that do not have holes for 80mm, so you would have to kinda screw them in to the mech, will be ugly, and might only fit with 2 screws, but is possible. I was doing it before (well I have used antec 300 like more than 10 times already) but switched to 120mm as soon as I have got 150 fans for $300. Now those Antec 300 machines are near silent.
