New hard drive problems

Hey all. I just installed a new WD caviar blue 320 gb ata HD on my hp pavilion d4790y. When I go to install an OS it it lists 2 partitions on disk 0. One of them is C: of course, and the other is H:.... C: is a 95mb partition and H: is the other 319 gb. As we all know windows wants to install everything on the C: drive (mine being 95mb) and wont let me install on H:. This is not my first time installing a hard drive, but it is my first time with one having drive letter assignments. Any wisdom about possibly how to remedy this situation would be greatly appreciated.

If its a brand new hard drive there won't be any drive letter assignments unless you got a refurbished drive. You will need delete the existing partitions and then repartition it how you like.
 
Delete ALL partitions on that HDD and then install Windows on one single UNPARTITIONED SPACE.Windows will automatically create the partition that uses the entire HDD as soon as you select that UNPARTITIONED SPACE.

By the way: Don't buy WD hard disk drives in the future.They suck lol!Don't be shocked if soon you hear so called "clicking sound" hahaha!:D

Totally wrong statement there. Yeah, you will get some bad drives but you get those from every manufacturer. If you choose Seagate, Samsung, WD you can't go wrong.
 
I have bought nothing but WD and so far I only had to RMA one drive. WD is my top brand I look at when buying a hard drive.

I would say WD is a pretty reliable. And their customer service is fantastic not to say that is a good thing since you don't want to use it. I am in the process of an RMA under warranty and the drive in question is a WD Caviar Black 500gb. They are sending me a 750gb Caviar Black drive 2nd day air all free of charge. I don't know why they sent me a 750gb when the next size up from the 500gb is the 640gb. Surely they are still making both the 500gb and 640gb.

Yup Seagate and Samsung rocks,but WD not.Because EVERY SINGLE WD HDD I bought went bad after 2 months or less.And I had them more then 15 lol and each one of them went bad.Explain that rofl xD

I hate WD HDDs!End of story lol :D
 
What capacity were the Western Digital drives that you were using?

I have had good experiences with Western Digital hard disk drives. Two drives I own presently have more than three years of use on them with no problems.
