new hardrive install..help

i just installed a new harddrive onto my computer, and it recognized the new hardware and installed. I have a new western digital 80g i bought from newegg.

i set it to slave as my computer wouldnt allow me to set it as master and run.during log on it showed a black screen and a message saying operating system not found. so its slave now. but where can i find the new drive? my old drive is visible "c:" but not the new one. so i need help finding it lol
 
Your new drive is unformatted so it will be unusable until you format it.

Go to Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Disk Management.

You should see your unpartitioned drive there, where you will be able to format it and use it as storage.
 
sweet thx. if i install world of warcraft on this drive will the download be faster since its a new HD? and since it has almost triple the space of my original?

You mean would the game load faster, and yes possibly, but only if the drive is faster and higher spec'd than your existing drive.

Free space won't affect game load times.
