New Here, and New Setup!

OK, well I kinda of recently discovered that you can build your own computer. Now I have some questions.

I'm getting a nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX/GTS (which one?) (I need 2 right?)
Also I'm getting Intel Core 2 Quad Core. (should I get Dual instead of Quad?)

Soooo my questions were, the only thing I need for the motherboard, is an Intel motherboard that will work with my case right? Everything else like the RAM, Hard Drive, and Graphics Card should work with it right? Now I need some suggestions of the best motherboards out there, a case that will work with that motherboard which has good cooling (and looks cool :P:D), a good harddrive (I only need 1 right?), a good set of RAM (I need 2 right?), a good power supply, and uhh yeah. Do I really need extra fans? oh yeah and a good monitor too. I have around $2500 to spend, and that should be able to get all the best stuff if I make it myself.

To be quite honest, you should wait a month or so for intel's new 45nm cpus to come out, and then build.

WOAH! No no no! Not the 680i! That can't even support 45nm's!

Gigabyte X38 or P35-DS3L...

Agree. At least get 780i if really want to SLi.
May be E8XXX CPU coming on 20 Jan. Or just go for Q6600
SLi 8800GT is enongh, IMO. no nee to go for GTS.

I'm pretty sure the 780i can't support 45nm's either. So that advice won't work.

Get the Gigabyte X38. Edit your post please... or he might go ahead and buy the 680i... :(

personally, i try and wait as long as possibe to get a new setup, because this is such a fast moving market by the time you've built your pc its out of date...

the 780i will support 45nm's but the x38 is fine to.
Evga has already started a stepup program from the 680i to 780i.
And Asus and DFI will make the 45nm's support available with a bios update.
Asus already has a beta online if i remember correctly.
