hey, im brand new to the forums here however i wasn't sure where the post this, so hopefully its in the right section. I've been having problems with my new build and they've been going on since i've built it. When im running a game like counter-strike source, COD4 or Fear, the game will start up i'll play it for about maybe 15-25mins and my whole entire computer will just shut down right in the middle of game play. Now usually this is and overheating problem, and even though the fan on my heatsink is a bit busted and running under 1,000rpms, i have enough fans install where everything even at its peak remains under 50 degrees c. And even before the fan on the cpu heatsink was busted i still had the same problems. I also thought it might be the graphics card too. When i open up my MSI dual core center it displays all the specs on my VGA. the temp on it was fine and so was memory and everything else. However is shows in the red that my memory clock is at only 900 mhz. Not sure if its normal or not. But here is the kicker, when run other games that aren't as demanding like counter-strike 1.6, starcraft, or even like half-life 1, my system is stable and the computer won't shut down. My friend thought it might be bad memory but i dunno. hopefully i can find some answers. Thanks

You could have a bad supply or board problem. When running a demanding game or app devices like the video and sound cards tend to place a larger demand on the supply. Another problem not realized often is a possible weak cap or other board component while temps will be seen in their normal ranges.

How old is the build? I had one old build here that simply saw sudden unexpected restarts and had problems recognizing the cpu forcing the lowering of the memory clock in the bios. The board loved to eat batteries! Those are the coin sized lithium batteries common to calculators and watches as well as mother boards.
