new i7 or just C2Q?

I am planning to buy a new gaming computer

i was searching various computers online

and i had to choose between i7 and c2q

I heard people saying i7 is just too expensive to buy right now

but i found some decent price ones with i7 and Msi geforce gtx 260(or radeon4870)

should i go for those i7 or get the c2q cheaper price (but it's not that cheaper like $100 difference)

Go for the i7 if your budget will allow it. But keep in mind that if you do go i7 not only will you be paying more for the processor itself, but the motherboard (LGA 1366) and RAM (DDR3) will also be more expensive.

The potential seemingly hasn't been tapped into for the I7 yet to justify their cost. The Core 2 stuff is worth it because of all the knowledge with overclocking that is to be used on them. The I7 doesn't use FSB etc. it's newer technology then what is out currently. The I7 will be "future proof" and last you longer, however it's up to you to choose what path to take and what plans you have with your build.
 
The prices on the DDR3 ram have come down a bit I noticed The I7 920 is also not at a bad price and Oc's better than rest of the quads with good after market cooling as being better performing and will have longer longevity.I7 is not unreasonable now to get
 
My own opinion is I would wait until the Intel i7 processors are refined more. The technology is so new, expensive and the processors are 130 Watt and above.

i couldnt agree more :)

current Core 2 Quads handle games and basicly anything you throw at them nicely anyway so you dont realy need an I7 just yet or maybe for a few years which by then probably better I7s would have come out.
 
I would wait for the prices to go down. and to wait for new motherboards to come out that are cheaper and have more features on it. To new of technolgoy right now.
