First thing my birthday my wife said i could get a SSD which is tomorrow. The kids bought me a Intel 80 gig. Question My Intel motherboard is executive series DQ35J0 or its JO. The article talks about the AHCI driver. I looked in the bios and did not see it. I went through the box with the motherboard and found a disc that says RAID/AHCI driver. I do have a Esata port. Even maybe the driver will come with the SSD which im hoping to get today. Im just trying to do a little home work now. Any thoughts im what im saying or just wait it out. Or maybe i could download something now or use the RAID/AHCI to get away with it. Im not a Raid user. Or at least never did.
thanks for the article. looking forward to new adventure.

Intel Toolbox for SSD

This should be the latest driver. They have 2 ACHI drivers. One supports RAID and one doesn't. If you don't raid, just use the ACHI and not the ACHI/RAID driver since RAID does not support TRIM. ( I thought I had that in there? I'll get it in)

And I think that's a good Idea to load them to disc or whatever to have them ready :good:

thank you. i got it and i will wait till i get started. don't want to be hasty. im curious but will be back later to check out. my question is, is this a flash or driver. i will be back later. thanks
on the other hand i was just doing a heads up. I did not have a clue what TRIM was and asking. little preliminary homework. trying to get an idea so i will do right.
getting the big picture to run with.

Got my Intel SSD today. Unfortunately im tired now because of work that is going on. It will be a couple days for me. Volunteer work at the hospital and people coming over again tomorrow. its for the basement. i will be there.
Question is it did come with P.S. cable, mod kit for installing in case and Sata cable to be used. Is this a standard Sata cable? I was just curious or is it different. also came with a disc how to install and links for support from Intel.
im whipped and will wait.
thanks

ACHI, im still confused about. ya sent the link for download to use it for windows but the comment says it also has to be supported in the bios. I did not see it. Only have some kind of disc for a raid achi. can someone clarify this a bit before installation. I can't today because i have to be available for the people working here with basement. again. may be a few days but still want to clarify.
thanks

To be on the safe side, since your not raid, use the ACHI driver that doesn't have raid.
You can't find the Sata port settings mode in the bios?
What mb is it?
Which drive is it?
7/64?

i only buy Intel mostly anymore by choice.
motherboard is DQ35J0 (or O) desktop board executive series.
SSD is intel 80 gig X25-M sata solid state drive. from the family.

next question because i don't know. My Primary boot with windows 7 Pro 64 bit now. It has a extended partition on it a also use now for secondary backup along with a another drive for backup that is internal. if i take the primary drive im using now that is set as master and set it as a slave then disconnect until i get the SSD and get that working properly then hook the Seagate backup with jumper as slave will that work if need to have access to the extended drive. sorry......its my home work. just checking. don't want to do this wrong and create more problems.
thankyou for the post.
