My uncle just had virgin media at his house to install new phone line to get him connected to the net, Now from what my uncle told me the virgin media technician as done it wireless and told him that you dont have a wireless adapter to which you need one to pick up the signal, The hub is down stairs and the pc is up, He did say that it could of been done via ethernet had they been closer, He told him he needs a usb wireless adapter to get it all going, Does this sound right ? I only ask because he is gonna buy one friday, They are roughly £10 - £15 so not to bad but I wanna make sure that's right before he does buy it, Cheers :-)

PS I think I wrote this message in the wrong section before LOL

Cheers mate. I would say the distance is roughly 6 feet from downstairs front room where the router is to upstairs directly above where the pc is, Will it be a case of maybe not getting the best speeds if he gets the usb wireless adapter ?

Depends on the usb adapter. You'll find out that most usb adapters only work good within the same room or within 20-30 from one another and only on the same floor of the house. The ony thing you can do is try and see.
