New laptop battery won't fit.

I just bought a battery off ebay. It said in the listing that it fit's my comp. It is the same exact kind of battery I have in here right now, but the end that faces out is different. It has a different plastic cap (I don't know what else to call it) on the end of it. I'm not sure if I can just pop it off, pop my old one off, and snap it onto the new battery. Or if popping that off will break it.

Does any one know if this is possible? Or is this a question that can't be answered without seeing it.

Ebay listings can be misleading and often the sellers' will say a part is compatible is huge bold letters, then in small print have a disclaimer that it's up to you to make certain it actually is. Can you take a picture of both batteries where the 'cap' is?

Ah good idea, I had not thought of that. My original battery is the one on the right in each picture. In the second pic, the bottom of each battery (the part off camera) is even with each other.
