New laptop downloading problems

I just bought a refurbished hp laptop from Best Buy a little over a month ago. I first noticed problems trying to download norton and an accounting program. The progress would stop and not go further. I would have to pause and start in order to get it to complete. I've now noticed that any streaming media will not load completely. I go to various speed tests and the upload will not complete. I thought it may me my router so I hooked directly to the modem and these problems stopped. The problem is that there are 3 other laptops that work perfectly fine in this network. I called best buy and the return policy is over and they said I would have to have geek squad to a system tune-up that i'd have to pay for, no thank you. Thats BS. Any suggestions?
 
have you checked in device manager to make sure there are no missing drivers, anything a warning triangle indicates a problem
 
There were no warnings nor missing drivers. When I plug into the router the same problem occurs. It sounds like the router is the problem, but why would 3 other laptops work perfectly fine?
