New Laptop for around $1000

Hi guys,

I'm looking to buy a new laptop. It should be an allrounder. The screen should be about 13-15inches big and I would use that laptop for everything. Therefore, it should be good for a little bit of gaming, too.
And I think 64-bit would be great as well.

Furthermore, I'm looking for a laptop which I would buy here in the US but it should have warranty in Europe, especially Germany, too. Sony doesnt have international warranty so they're out of the equation.

I have been looking around a little bit and saw those ones:

I've never had a Toshiba so I don't know how the quality of those products are.

I read that this laptop its performance is really good. However, I've read some keyboard issues and the weak batterie which only last less than an hour under full power.

Do you have any other suggestions? I'm looking for a brand and laptop which had a good reputation and is not famous for breaking after 1 year or so.

Of the 2 you listed, the Asus is the better choice. The GPU will perform circles around that toshiba. Also it having switchable graphics, it will have better battery life with the Intel.
 
I've been looking around and have another question.

How strong is the "NVIDIA Quadro 1000M Graphics with 2GB DDR3 Memory"?

Acer Aspire 5742-G6846 is what I have coming, when UPS manages to get it here (should be by friday).
seemed to be the best sub 1k computer, at least when I was looking. Has a GT540m GPU, and i3-380m.

As for asus. I have been told that they are good. I had a Asus motherboard in one of my old P3 desktops, and it still works (server). Seems that they have a fairly customer friendly customer service department, and long lifespan. They also have some of the best performing laptops on the market.
 
The only reason that I got it from where I dod was because it didnt require all up front, and they fix any hardware failures while Im paying for it. And it reflects good on my credit.

If I may ask, why must it cost 1K? and if it needs to be closer to that, try finding one with a GTX460m or the GT540m and a i7, preferable one of the SB ones. They will outperform the first gen chips.
