Hi guys

My girlfriend wants to buy a new Laptop and her company run a scheme where she can get one from PC World without having to pay VAT.

First off, do PC World have a good write up for customer service and customer support if something breaks???

She has been looking at Compaqs, are they any good, would it be more worthwhile to look at another brand??

Also what processer should she look at AMD or Pentinium. Sorry I know nothing about Laptop processors, I'm off to look at the other forum in a minute to look....

Okay, what she wants to have is:

at least 80gb hard drive
Wireless for internet and bluetooth
DVD rewriter

It would be cool if the screen was quite big for watching DVDs

Good battery life could be useful, however not necessary, and more of an added bonus.

Good graphics card for games is not important.
Weight is not an issue.

Thankyou for your time.

in my experience pc world, which are owned byt he dixons group, so i should assume are pretty much the same i would say are crap for customer support, i had a 5 year extended call out service on my first computer, and they simply wouldn't come out and charged about £1 per minute for phone support that was useless, i would have a look aroun www.ebuyer.co.uk and www.dabs.com, as even though she doesn't have to pay VAT the prices are often cheaper and the service is pretty good
