I need a laptop for university, I am going into engineering don't know which most likey to be computer or civil. Heres a few details I am looking for in a laptop.
1) Size
doesn't matter much but a medium portable laptop would be good
2) Proccesor
i7 quad core
3) Ram
4gb+ or one that I can install more ram with ease
4) Battery
Since I am going to be sitting in lecture halls without elctricity imput, I would prefer a 9 cell battery with 5+ hours
5) Budget
1000 - 2000
6) Graphic card
should be a decent one incase I decide to go into computer software, although I don't game much
7) Display
don't need 3D or anything but would like a good screen as I do watch A LOT of videos
8) harddrive
doesn't mater, I will probably have an external hardrive to back up my work so a small SSD would work

Powerful, high battery hours
I would like a laptop much like the lenovo w520 with a better design
also don't recommend hp as I am canadain and HP doesn't allow customization

Hi

i would recommend to you that go for custom made laptop and it will be cost cutting for you with smart configuration.
you can find these specs separately on ebay.com or our website splusdirect.com

customized with the quadro 2000m, 2GB of RAM, and 128GB SSD for 2066. This would be one of the best quality units available. The base gpu and HDD would be fine, and your memory can be upgraded after you buy for much less than they charge. For example, 8GB from them is $250 while newegg is http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231482 $45, meaning you could have 16GB for less than 1/2 what they charge for 8.
