I just bought an Asus K42 laptop

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220739

It looks nice but runs soo slow. I'm not sure what the problem is. It takes about a min or so to open IE or Mozilla. Mozilla and IE constantly are "Not Responding" so I have to waiting forever but I end up just closing out of everything. I am having trouble loading software. I use Citrix for my work and it constantly stalls during install. Same with installing WOW. Install errors pop up and I have to close. Even the Windows start button takes about 60 second to open. What could be the trouble???

I have a laptop with a 2.26 CPU 2 Gigs of RAM and a 5200 hdd. When I hit start, it opens in under a second.

Has your computer been like that ever since you got it?

Probably all the bloatware... If you have a copy of windows lying around go ahead and reformat it, make sure you have the drivers first :)

A lot of OEM's like to load up their comps with trial software that doesn't do a lot because they get paid for it.

You could also try msconfig:

Start > Run "msconfig"

go to the startup tab, disable everything in there. Go to the services tab and hit "hide all microsoft services" and uncheck everything.

Be careful not to disable your antivirus though.

Thank u for the advice. It's comes with windows 7. I was thinking about just installing windows xp. Is windows 7 that much better than Xp
