New laptop procedure

Hi,

does the old rule still apply, that once you get a new laptop you better leave it recharging through the night (8 - 10 hrs) before you fire it up for the first time.

It has something to do with the battery, it needs to get formated to its full potential or something like that right?

It is always a good idea to fully charge and then fully de-charge all rechargeable batteries. My daughters Dell manual said to make sure that happens.

But only the first time or two, and maybe once a month after that to keep the battery gauge calibrated. Lithium ion/polymer batteries don't take kindly to being run down to completely dead on a regular basis. They much prefer being recharged when still having a partial charge on them.:D
