hi i am new just need to know what is a good brand of laptop and reliable to buy dont want all the bells and whistles with it

personally i find dell laptops to be very good.
Toshiba is the best quality i have ever had.
i also like acer, although i find them to be not that good quality-wise.

my mum has a Compaq and it is a very nice laptop although kind of on the cheap side.

so basically my point is in my experiance Toshiba have served me the best although dell have done a very good job too.

i would love a macbook. they look lovely, but i could never afford one and personally dont need one. so if i ever got one it would just be for the looks

yeah for people that look after their stuff acers are fine... :D

but i though my laptops around everywhere haha. had many problems with acers.
still they are good for the price speed wise

yeah asus is one of the best in my experience. i would prefer Toshiba, but asus is definately a strong contender.

to the OP, whats your budget and what would you use it for? then we can work out what would be best for you.

Asus is the way to go, you can't beat that warranty they have that comes STANDARD.Don't forget their high quality, tech support, and price/power ratio.

yeah, if you have a smaller budget than Dell laptops are very good. Toshibas are the best ( in my opinion), but they are very expensive.

I recommend that you DON'T get a Dell. I've had terrible luck with multiple Dell laptops. They're cheaply put together inside and out. Mine doesn't even sit on a level surface without rocking because it's warped.

The op does not want bells and whistles, so I think he wants something under $900. I would recommend Dell, Toshiba, Asus, Hp, possibly Lenovo.
