New Laptop

Just wanted to ask a couple questions about my new laptop.

The other day I seen a guy at the mall with his laptop and he had it sitting on what looked like a rectangular cooling fan. What is that for and do I need one?

Also my laptop came equipped with a CD/DVD burner. How would I go about backing up some of my DVD's? Is that legal since I bought a burner I am guessing that it is. Im just not up to date on the copyright laws.

The rectangular thing you saw is most likely what you suspect...its a usb powered cooling pad that has 2 fans and vents hot air away from your laptop.

They are cool..(no pun intended, but not necessary!)

Several manufacturers make them, I have one from Targus!

As for your second question, yeah just cause you have a burner doesn't mean you can legally burn DVD's! Even with the best of intentions--its still illegal to copy DVD's. Unless they are like homemade movies etc..
