my budget is £500.00 if anyone knows of any other laptops that are a good spec for this price would appreciate some help in looking :)

i would choose either compaq (better spec) or sony (better quality) from the above list
However, with £500, you can get the lastes core i3 CPU.

Sony VAIO E Series VPC-EB1E0E

TOSHIBA Satellite L500-1XD

Asus K52F-SX065V

I personally would get Asus for the spec.
However, the pros for Toshiba is it sold in Dixon. Probably easier to go there and just grab one.
While mention sony as some ppl just like the look and touch of them.

nice one ill check these out, do you think that the sony you suggested or the HP you suggested would run Command and Conquer Tiberium wars well?

It should run. According to wikipedia, min requirement of video card is video card - GeForce 4 Ti, ATI Radeon 8500, Intel GMA 900 or better

By the way, I edited and exclude that HP out at the end. It is purely due to the keyboard layout. When you look at the other 3, all come with the proper number keypad, while for HP, it didn't. I really hate it when I used to work with my laptop without the proper keypad.
