New LED Monitor

I just bought an ASUS 20" LED backlit monitor 1600x900 resolution for my upcoming pc build. I am currently using it for this old windows xp computer. However, the graphics and text are not as clear as the old crappy monitor display. Is there an option somewhere to fix the resolution or picture quality? Thanks.

EDIT: I went to properties and changed the pixels to 1280x1024. My true resolution is 1600x900 but it won't let me change it to that in properties settings tab. This monitor should be showing the internet as wide not full but it is not.

Which Graphic card you have or what is your motherboard model if you have an onboard GPU

Ok 1600x900 is a supported resolution for that GPU.
So I suggest you upgrade the drivers.I cant think of any other problem except the drivers.
