HI,
I have had it up to here with my piece of shit dell and iam moving into a more reliable system.
I have already bought myself a sweet case but now I need the Mobo & CPU

My First question is what kind of cpu is best AMD or INTEL, and what type of AMD and what type of INTEL (ect. Intel Hyperthreading and Prescott and all that kinc of crap.)

And then my second question is what mobo is suitable for that CPU.
We don't hav much access to Abit mobos in Aust and iam not interested in buying online. My next preference would be ASUS and my next would be GIGABYTE ( not quite sure bout MSI )

PLEASE HELP
Thanx,

what is the new system to used for games, multi-taksing.

Also be sure to read cpu101, mobo 101 on this forum they will help you out.

Most people around here seem to prefer AMD, and say its better for games, but its personal prefrence. Choose the cpu you want first, if you need more info on that, go to google.com and do a search. After you have your chosen cpu, you can get the rest because your cpu determins the type of mother board you need, and m/b determins your ram and the rest of the stuff.

i suppose its gonna be more for gaming but iam concearned about AMD because of the cost of cooling

well the fan that comes with it should do just fine as long as you have decent airflow and arent overclocking, and in some cases you can even overclock on a stock fan, but its not always recommended...and as a general rule AMD is much cheaper than Intel, and what you get for the money is better with AMD..for example awhile back i was shopping around and an AMD Athlon 64 +3000 is the same price as a 2.4ghz Pentium 4 w/Hyperthreading....hmmm wonder which one of those is going to be better?

Not for a while it hasnt been. Not for what 90% of the population buys

Look at prices again. As for better, its quite dependent on the intent of the machine.
