New MoBo = Slow CPU :(

Hey guys! Im a bit peeved at my computer right now because i recently changed my motherboard because my old one died. The problem is the new MoBo is making the computer run slow and i think its because its an energy saver so the CPU is not at full power. My old MoBo was a MSI but i cant remember what model and my CPU (e4700) was OC to 3ghz safely and my pc ran crysis on very high at 25-30 frames. When i put the new MoBo in everything on my computer went slower :( crysis can only reach about 25 frames on high and my emulators are running very slow. My new MoBo is a Gigabyte GA-G41M-ES2L and the CPU is overclocked to 3ghz again safely but the pc is still slow. Can anyone help please? maybe turning off the energy saving function?
My specs are
GPU: Radeon 4870 512mb
RAM: 4gb
CPU: E4700 2.6ghz (3ghz OC)
OS: Vista Ultimate 32
Thanks!

I had a look into the BIOS and disabled the three settings that take the CPU's power to 50% and then my PCkept crashing and would not start up...it fixed the problem because the CPU went to 2.6ghz which is its stock speed instead of 1.2ghz which is what the BIOS changes it to...if i can find out why my PC crashes then i will be all good :)
Cheers

I am not familiar with AMD's power savers but like linkin said one of the things you turned off could be causing the crashes. Try turning one of them on and see if your cpu is at default speeds/it still crashes. And what do you mean by crashes ? Does it freeze or do you get bsods ?

umm well these are what the features are called that i turned off: CPU enhanced (C1E), CPU thermal monitor (TM2) and CPUEIST function (speedstep). The computer will boot up and then a few minutes later it will just turn off. I read another post and another guy had the same problem and he resolved it by "clearing the CMOS and then loading the optimized defaults" but i dont know how to do this :(

Thanks so far guys!

Well first try going into bios and loading the optimized defaults. If that doesn't work then you will have to clear cmos. But first let's see if loading optimized default works :)

i went into BIOS and clicked optimized settings but that didnt change anything :( i guess im gonna have to clear the CMOS, does you know a simple way to do that? thanks :D

Well you can either use jumper or take out your battery. If you wanna use jumper look at your mobo's manual it should tell how to do it.

Just disable speedstep and enable the other 2 again. That should take care of the slowness and the crashing.

alright ill try the speedstep one first and if im still having problems i'll try the battery thing :D thanks! I'll post on how it goes

hey i cleared the CMOS and made the CPU 3GHZ in the BIOS and disabled speedstep and its running fine...i will test it out on some stuff and see if its as fast as it use to be :D thanks alot guys :D
have a good one!

That sounds great. I'm glad it got working properly again. Just a question for my future reference... the motherboard... did it say somewhere that it saves energy? Like, I have a gigabyte motherboard. Is it slowing itself down without me knowing?
