New Monitor issues

Just bought a 23 Inch Samsung series 5 - 550 monitor.
Its a 1920x1080 full HD monitor though when i change my resolution to 1920 by 1080 the screen doesnt fill the whole physical screen on the monitor. Any ideas what i am doing wrong here? im using an hdmi cable into a hd6770 radeon card.

At 1600 by 900 it fills the screen but it doesnt look anywhere near as good. In fact it looks down right horrible all blurry and crappy. My 5 year old flat screen UBX looks a ton better and the max it can run is 1680 by 1050

There is an option in the catalyst software that will fix this, just can't remember the option name. If I can think of it I'll edit my post. It's because you are using the hdmi cable instead of a dvi cable.
 
ok i went on the amd website and got the catalyst software and for anyone who has this problem in the future you have to change the setting "Scaling options" to 0
That option is under the tab "my digital flat panels.
