New Notebook Advice

I'm planning on buying a new notebook for my education. My old one is just simply wore out. My budget is somewhere around 1400-1500 €
This it what i'll be doing on it:
- basic stuff (word, excel, surfing, mailing etc)
- running virtual machines
- some casual gaming (my gaming goes on mostly on my desktop)

My must haves:
- a 7200 rpm hard drive
- at least 3gb ram
- a "fast" cpu, preferably intel (think of something like the e8400)
- 15.4 inch screen (17 is to heavy, 14 is to small)
- gbit netword card
- a wireless card thats supports G and N networks
- very very good hardware support. I use my notebook pretty much 24/7 when it comes to my study. I can't afford to send it out to the manufacturer and wait for like 2 weeks. I preferably want to get it at some trusted local shop and pay more for it with better services.

I'm really satisfied with this (it's dutch but you can see the prices and the configuration) I'm not to sure about the brand though haven't heard much of it. I'm trying to find a retailer that sells xxodd notebooks and repairs them on the spot, but i haven't found one yet.

Does anyone have any more suggestions (web bases offers like dell are welcome to) for my new notebook?
 
What are your feelings on Macintosh products? I am not too familiar with service in Europe, but I can tell you as working as a warranty certified tech years previous, all laptops must go back to the manufacturer under warranty.
 
I don't know how much that is in US currency, but heres a good option for ya none the less.

Since that isn't that easy to read, here are some of the specs:
- C2D 2.4 ghz
- 100gig 72200rpm
- 4gigs of ram
- 15.4" screen at 1920x1200
- agn wireless, good gpu, dual layer dvd, wwan, bluetooth, finger printer reader, card reader etc etc.

You can also configure the settings how ever you'd like.

5400rpm may be the standard but there are enough 7200rpm 2.5inch hard disks out there. That one does look nice though. To bad about the hard disk. I really need a fast one.

And i've already looked at macbooks and macbook pro's not to fond about them, they look nice. But they're simply to expensive.

Last one looks nice to, to bad about the gpu though, crappy for gaming.
 
I highly reccomend Acer laptops. They are affordable and yet have a lot of features that match the more expensive laptops. You can get an Acer Aspire at Staples with 1 gigabyte of RAM, about 120 gig hard drive, an Intel or AMD processor (none of the cheaper VIA processors that are found in the rock-bottom machines) and a very comfy keyboard, not to mention a SuperMulti drive. This all is about $600. I am going to buy one real soon.
 
Yeah Apple is very expensive in Europe, because they are only a US company. If they ever expand into Europe i think the prices would drop.
 
Yep it's to bad, they've got nice hardware (hate the software though).

Anyways i've decided to hold of on buying a new notebook. I won't be using it for intensive tasks to much the coming couple of months. I'll buy a new one this summer.
 
Well the design and innovation is the best IMO in Apple's, and the OS, well you can run ANY OS you want on them. Windows, Linux or OS X, or all three via VMs or tripple booting.
