new OS

I have a new OS that i bought and downloaded, but i have xp home edition on my pc now, how would i put that new OS on my pc? do i need to partition the new OS? how exactly woud i do that? thanks for the help!

if the thing you downloaded is an image, burn it to disk and see if it's bootable, if so it should guide you step by step from there. If it isn't bootable, number one that would be kinda weird, number two, you would probably need to install it to a different partition, and I'm not exactly sure how you'd go about initializing the installation, like I dunno if you can just double-click it or what

If its an ISO, burn it to a cd and pop it in ur cd drive and boot off it. If not use an iso burner. I like DeepBurner Pro, then burn the OS as an ISO image file. You could install the new os on a new partition, but your current partition would work fine but you would lose everything.
