New PC Build

I am building a new PC from CyberpowerPC and would like some feedback on my current build. I am looking for a solid PC for around $1,000 and this is what I came up with in their custom build. Am I missing anything major? What kind of performance can I expect? Do you agree this is a good deal and solid PC for around $1,000? I chose the pro overclocking option at 10% or more, should I go for extreme overclocking at 15% or more for $20 (all applicable components are OC certified)? Anything you would leave out or swap to keep it around it's current price? Any feedback is appreciated.

I would generally say go for 16GB RAM. But they are so expensive, you would better off add it yourself.

why do you need them to OC for you? why couldn't you do it yourself?

Also, it probably cost about $1000 for a similar rig if you assemble yourself

Unfortunately I don't have the time or patience to build it myself. I have built one in the past and it was fun and a bit cheaper but it also took a good amount of time for me to research, order and put together all the hardware (I know that is part of the fun for some but not me). So CyberpowerPC is by far the best custom builders out there for good pricing, which is what I am looking for. It turns out they just got the 1070s in stock so I just upgraded it today with them for only $100 more over the 970! This thing will be beastly, all for a reasonable $1,200.00 (they gave an extra 5% off the whole order as well). In the end I am probably paying them around $150 to build, which I have no problem with and can afford. I will definitely be adding more RAM on my own as I see how it performs, but any other upgrades on this build would be overkill for me. The i7 and 1080s are great but overpriced and unnecessary for me. Hey, at least I didn't get a pre-fab Dell! I just wanted some feedback as I have been out of the PC gaming scene for a while now and am not up to date on the newest hardware. Thanks for the suggestions, I found the 1070 after your post. I can still make changes even though I have ordered it so if you see anything else let me know (I know the PSU is overkill but it was a free upgrade so it is the cheapest option).

I'd still recommend building one. You can take a couple days to build it, save $300-400, and still get it before they can send yours to you.

I spent 3 hours putting my first build together and I had no idea what I was doing :p

You can get a Windows 10 OEM key from Kinguin.net for ~$30 and you still have plenty of money left over for a GPU.

Same motherboard (I'd choose differently) & CPU, with a nicer cooler and case. Plus an optical drive that's prehistoric hehe.

PCPartPicker part list

They also seem to have a poor selection of components as far as pricing and quality goes.

I ended up getting an i7 with gtx1070 16 gigs ram for $1,400.00. The cooler I slected is one of only two fully certified for extreme overclocking, the other one being more than I need (suggesting I get a better one that I can't doesn't help). The motherboard is a must for overclocking. I could honestly care less about the case looks wise, I'm not intending to show it off, I would make it look awful past the glass anyways and it has plenty of fan support (6 total fans with 240mm support is the most important aspect) . When it comes to overall price compared to me building I think I spent around $250 extra which is peanuts ($70 of that towards Windows which I should have done myself anyways). The optical drive is just for loading old games, I debated even getting one but what's $20. I wish you building elitists would get over some of us not building and just paying for it when we can afford it (the majority don't build their own). I never wanted price comparisons, I knew it was cheaper to do it all on your own. I did take hardware upgrade advice from here and thank those who provided that, I ended up with a better rig.
That is the ugliest case I have ever seen.
Please, I have seen much uglier troll. I actually don't mind the sleek look of it.
