New PC...Is everything Compatible

The video card is expensive
And it says that it has 24pipe but that is wrong because X1650xt only have 8 pipes, but it can do 3 shader processors per pipe
7600GT performs as good as X1650xt, but 7600GT is so much cheaper

get this 7900GS, it is much cheaper and it will perform much better

The x1650xt keeps coming up with 24 pipelines, are u sure it only has 8?

Also what would you all suggest, Geforce or Radeon? and I know pipelines are important but is 16 really that different from 20 and 24?

Thx

Your right, it does come up with 24, even on GPUreview though I believe it is wrong.

The difference between 16 and 24 is not much if the 16 has 4 shaders per pipe and the 24 just has one, but yes, pixelpipelines make a world of difference, especially from 8-12 and 12-16, etc.

My friend X1600pro, X1650pro and X1600xt has 4 pipes
X1650xt has 8 pipes

In gpureview it says that 1900xt has 48pipes, but does this mean that it has 48pipes. no it has only 16pipes

Please look here and you will see the real pixel pipeline that every video card has
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pixel_pipeline

And look here to see some benchmarks
http://techreport.com/reviews/2006q4/geforce-8800/index.x?pg=14

X1650xt has similar performance to 7600GT
and 7900GS beat X1650xt by far

I'm sure %100

X1650xt has 8 pipes but it can do 3 pixel processors per pipe, so you have a total of 24 pixel shaders

Nice build. However, your computer is a bit unbalanced. Try getting a better memory like DDR2. PC400 is old school.

His CPU and Motherboard are 939, and only accept DDR.

Everything looks good, but you may want to upgrade to 2GB of RAM.

i have that current cpu, and an x1900aiw with 1GB of slow ram. i can almost max out fear, and COD2. i am 90% sure, if i had better ram, and a serial hard drive, i could max it out. you shouldent have to worry about not being able to max out anything. you should own all the games for a while. the only thing, is i bought that same serial drive, and my regular nec dvd-r installs games faster, but not that noticible. if i were you, i would pay 15 more bucks and get the 250gb version of that hard drive. you wont have to worry about colling that processor. mine, with the stock heatsink, and a 5500 rpm thermaltake fan, never geets over 55 degrees celsus under hours of gameing.

The hard drive and RAM barely effect game performance. You have DDR400, which is still very good RAM.
