New PC, no keyboard

I just built a new pc (from old components) and I can't install windows on it because when the message saying press f1 to continue,del to enter bios etc... pops up my keyboard stops working. It works on other pcs but I'm going to ask anyway, can this be caused by the keyboard or is something else causing the problem?

Is it a usb keyboard ?

At first, yes it was, then I used a regular keyboard port keyboard (I don't know what it's called) and it still doesn't work. Any ideas? Please help
