New PC, old printer, no printer port

I bought a new desk computer for my father in law. The new PC does not have a printer port will a "High Speed Parallel Port PCI Card Adapter PC 25 pins" work? Here is a link to what I am looking at. http://www.digiecity.com/retail/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=925

i wouldn`t waste the money printers are cheap to buy now and come with full new inks

I agree. but its not mine, its a office machine fax, scanner, printer, copier. Somthing like a 3000 dollar machine. so he wants it to work

well i believe you can buy pci cards for connecting old style printers

What OS is on the new computer? You can buy a USB to parallel adapter or you can buy a PCI card with a parallel port but the real problem will be whether you can get drivers for the old printer that work with the OS on the machine. That's a common complaint that comes up with people that are moving from XP to Vista or Win 7, no drivers for older hardware.

I didn't consider the os problem and driver problem. The new system is windows 7 and it was operating with windows XP. I will have to check to see if he has the old software and check Toshiba to see if drivers are available.
