A year ago I built myself a home PC with the help of several fine people from this board. Now my Uncle has asked me to build him a similar spec machine.
I built my PC around the "AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Socket 939 512KB".
I'm thinking of using the same processor for this newbuild with the following components.
Moby - Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9 Socket 939 nForce 4-4X PCI-E ATX
Case - Antec SLK2650BQE UK 350W 12v ATX
DVD/CD writer - NEC DVD+-RW/RAM 16x IDE Black LabelFlash Dual Layer
1 Gig of Ram ( i'll work that out later when I'm sure about moby)
Western Digital Caviar 160GB U100
Now where I have no idea is the PCI-e Graphics card so a little help would be appreciated. He would not do any gaming other than maybe chess etc (He is 70 years old I can't quite see him playing Quake for example
)
He is interested in Photoshop and the Internet mainly with a little CD/DVD copying /burning thrown in.
Any opinions on the build would be appreciated espiecally re-graphics card.
He (and I) would like it to be a little upgradable so I'm trying to give him options in future if reqd.So a couple of questions to finish.
Is PCI-e still the best way to go re graphics?
Is socket 939 still the best for future processor upgrades?
TIA David.... (sorry for the long post)
