Hi all, I have just built my first PC :D however.....
How do I get my PC to install Windows XP from disc
Everything boots up fine etc and then I get this text on screen as follows:

Secondary IDE channel no80 conductor cable install !
Searching for boot record from floppy...not found
Searching for boot record from IDE-0...not found
Searching for boot record from SCSI...not found
Boot failure
Insert Boot diskette in A:
press any key when ready

PS I have a CD for windows but no floppy, any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks

If you want to install xp on a blank hard drive then the way i do it is like this:

1) first i use a start up disk from windows me
2) i type "fdisk" in command prompt
3) delete wat ever partition there is
4) create a new dos partition
5) after i restart the computer
6) format the hard drive (c:format c:)
7) after i restart the computer and put the windows me cd in the drive
8) in command promt i type the letter of the drive the cd is in (d:, or e: or f: wat ever it is)
9) then i type setup
10) after windows me is intalled i boot up the pc and put the xp disk in and follow the instructions

Thats how i install xp on my blank clear hard drive.
Running xp from a start up disk doesnt work for me, maybe its my version of windows, i dunt no.

Hope that helps.
