New Power Supplie

I have recently put in a new Power Supplie to my computer' this is the reason becuase.

My computer started making noses coming from the Power Supplie that was not normal so i got down to the tower itself and i could smell Electric burning so i unplugged the computer straight away and took the sides of the computer and had a look at the PSU' the smell was coming from there' so i took it out and opened it up and it was a fused together. I took it to PC World and lucky they had the same one in stock :)

I have had a strange power cannection anyway so that could have been it. I used to have to take the power lead out and put it back in again:mad:

What was the point of telling us that? Are you looking for a reason why it might have been burning?
 
Yes i am' do you know y' The reason why i told you's that was beucase i thought someone could help me on why it happen

Ok, it would have been easier if you worded you question differently. Do you know how many Watts and Amps the power supply had? And what were the specs on the computer? My guess is that you had too many parts that were needing more power than your power supply could give out.
 
it was 300watt and i have put another one in and it is running fine now. Could the wire have shorted out and blown it??

Its a possibility, keep in mind that over time things will die. It could be from a number of causes.
 
id say it was defective... if there wasnt enough power it just wouldnt turn on or something of the sort. also, 300watts is normally enough depending on if its AMD or INTEL and if hes trying SLI which i highly doubt since he bought a 300watt haha...
AMD normally uses less wattage... even less under load than intel does idling.
