So I posted on here about a week or so ago with a graphics card issue. I was told to get a new power supply, which was definitely the right thing to do. I had a new graphics card but I think it was underpowered on my 300-watt system, but everything was still running fine.
My EVGA 500w power supply came in last night - once again, everything was running perfect on my computer, no indication of problems whatsoever. I took out my old 300w power supply and slipped in the 500. Now, I'm an ass and I have no experience in what I'm doing but I tried it anyways (I know it's not a difficult thing for most, but like I said...I'm an ass.) I plugged everything into where I thought it'd go, retracing the older power supply and whatnot...
There were a lot more wires and plugs than I thought but I think everything went in where it should. When I tried to boot...the desktop came on...I could hear the fans working, the LED came on, BUT no video signal. I also noticed I have no USB power? My DVD drive works though - so I'm confused as to what the problem is.
I'll mention, my graphics card has no PCI plug slot or anything, and it functioned prior to the new supply without anything plugged into it, so that can't be it. But even so, I took out the graphics card and tried to go to the onboard....same problem.
*****The problem has been fixed. I just kept toying around with everything and I realized I knocked one of the RAM cards like a millimeter out of place. Pushed it back into place and it started right up with the new power supply. All good!
Then I finally just reverted everything back to the way it was... old power supply, onboard graphics. Same issue. Computer comes on... fans work... no USB power, or video signal to monitor. I've been trying to search this problem and I see a lot of people have it, but I don't get any of the fixes... any idea why this is happening? Am I an idiot and just missing a step or two? OR did I just destroy my computer?
Hope you guys can help, do you need specs or anything?
