Im looking at upgrading my 5 year old pc from a pentium 4 1.3GHz to a 3.0Ghz, will my pc handle it and how do i find out what what pinned or type? it will take?

What kind of motherboard do you have? If the motherboard is 5 years old, then you should be able to run a 3ghz cpu on it. More then likely it would be ok, just depends on the brand and model.

I don't know intel sockets nearly as well as I do AMD, but I would just about bet money you'd be unable to upgrade that much. If I could simply find a damn list of the Intel processors and their sockets, I could tell you for sure...

Ah, found it... The 1.3GHz Pentium 4 was apparently the slowest one made. It runs on a Socket 423. The fastest processor you can get is a P4 2GHz, if this graph I found is accurate...

I looked on that site, there doesnt appear to be a processor that would work with your motherboard on there......sorry.

I could sell you mine for $80 with the heatsink and fan. It is a Pentium 4 Northwood 2.66ghz/133mhz non-HT. Not the greatest P4, but it overclocks like a beast. Got that baby up to 3.5ghz on stock cooling. It runs very cool also. But iv never sold anything over the net, so im not sure how it all works out, and i hear too many stories of ppl getting screwed........so i dont know.
