New RAM

Well kind of. I bought RAM off of eBay for my eMachines PC. I was told they would run fine and they did. But it appears everytime I use up a certain amount of that RAM at any one time my computer either locks up, or restarts and gives me trouble loading it again. Playing a low res. game such as Theme Hospital runs fine. Running a slightly more demanding game such as Black and White causes the pc to freeze/restart. Is there a way to fix the hardware that doesn't mean I have to buy a new one?

I've tried switching the 2 RAM sticks around but it still doesn't work once I use a certain amount of RAM up.

Even if there is no solution, I reckon I'll keep them in. It's great having a PC that doesn't freeze when I load up the likes of Paint!! :P (was running 128MB before hand)

It means your RAM has errors, the test isn't perfect which is why it doesn't always catch them on the first run through. If you want your system to stop freezing I'd reccomend new RAM

Ok, I found the faulty piece of RAM and took it out. Is there anything I can do with it or is it just a case for the bin now?

You may be able to sell it. Some people like to buy faulty stuff.

Or you could make a keychain

Ooooh Keychain. Haha. Ya but it definately sounds like a memory error and why it was on e-bay in the first place. Time to get some new ram.
